Law on the transfer of cultural goods (KGTG)

On June 20, 2003, the confederate parliament has passed the law on the transfer of cultural goods (KGTG), which came into effect on June 1st, 2005. This law on the transfer of cultural goods implements the UNESCO convention 1970 for Switzerland and contains, corresponding to its specific function, regulations on the import of cultural goods into Switzerland, on transit and export and the repatriation from Switzerland. With the law on the transfer of cultural goods, the confederacy wants to make a contribution to the conservation of the cultural heritage of mankind and prevent theft, pilferage and illegal import, export and transit of cultural goods.
